In the manufacturing sector, relationships with external suppliers are often based on the exchange of documents, including:
- Sending Requests for Quotation (RFQs)
- Sending drawings
- Sending Purchase Orders (POs)
- Requests for updates on work in progress (WIP) status
- Requests for confirmation of order fulfillment dates
Within these relationships, the main operational burdens for the Purchasing Department include the searching and collecting of documentation to be managed in email correspondence, as well as monitoring the status of these exchanges.
This management is not only time-consuming but is also susceptible to errors that can lead to significant economic damage for the company.
